Basketball

Basketball is a sport that requires a high degree of integrated movements. The athlete must be able to demonstrate balance, core strength, dynamic single leg control, rotation in either direction through the trunk, and unrestricted shoulder movements, often all at the same time. Because of the way our bodies are designed, all people are right side dominant beings, even if you are left handed. This right side dominance can lead to muscular imbalance about the pelvis, legs, trunk and shoulders, resulting in pain and/or decreased performance. Common concerns voiced by basketball players are pain in the following: feet, knees, hips, back and shoulders. Also, basketball players may find they are more effective on one side of the court (right-vs-left), or feel they rotate, cut or drive to the basket in one direction better than the other. If you, as a basketball player, have any of these concerns, consulting with a PRI therapist can lead to awareness and a plan for addressing the factors that are limiting your performance or causing your pain.
