Pelvic Floor Dysfuntion

Men and women can suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction. Disorders ranging from incontinence, pubalgia, prostatitis, prolapse, painful intercourse, etc. are all examples of pelvic floor dysfunction. The pelvic floor muscles provide organ support, regulate intra-abdominal pressure, control sphincter with defecation, assist with urination and sexual pleasure, and allow for reciprocal activity to occur at the pelvis, which is needed for walking. Dysfunction in this area occurs when pelvic floor muscles are not balanced and are unable to assist with these activities. At the Hruska Clinic, we have a firm belief that our bodies are asymmetrical with predictable patterns. We treat these patterns to maximize symmetry in the body allowing for reciprocal activity to be restored, therefore treating the dysfunction and obtaining relief of the patient’s symptoms.
