PRI In Daily Life

PRI Positions

We all demonstrate an underlying postural pattern, in which we favor our right leg and rotate our upper body to the left. We have asymmetrical organs which include a liver on the right (which weighs nearly four pounds), and a spleen on the left (weighing less than a pound). We have three lobes in our right lung and only two on the left. Most of us are also left brain dominant, which controls movement of the right side of our body. All of these factors influence us as human beings to stand, sit, and perform other daily activities more on the right side of our body. These repetitive daily activities can result in many different injuries including back pain, hip pain, knee pain or shoulder pain. Take a look at this hand-out for suggestions on how to sit, stand, sleep, and perform many other common daily activities, and hopefully you can avoid these common injuries that we see in the Hruska Clinic!
